About Me

Chinatsu Sunaga is an artist / illustrator / workshop facilitator from Japan. After studying Child Psychology at Yokohama National University in Japan, Chinatsu began a career in the publishing industry as an editor and writer.

While in BA(Hons) in Illustration at Loughborough University School of Art and Design, UK, her Milky Way Train paintings were awarded the Highly Commended Prize at the Macmillan Prize for Children's Picture Book Illustration. Since then, Chinatsu has worked as an illustrator for companies in the UK and other European countries, USA and Japan.

In 2009, Chinatsu completed Waldorf Early Years Teacher Training in Emerson College, UK, and started working in Waldorf Kindergartens in London as a teacher and learning support assistant for a child with autism. Since then, she has been enjoying working with children, painting nature and creating felt animals.

As Chinatsu has always been passionate to work with vulnerable children, she studied Transpersonal Arts for Health and Wellbeing at Tobias School of Art and Therapy and was qualified with Level 5 (ACGI) in 2018. She has run art workshops for adults and given creative art sessions to children, which gently promote health and wellbeing.

Chinatsu has also been active as a writer and translator and has published several books including children's stories and translated storytelling book in Japan.
